Doncaster is set to sew up a place in Scottish history after being chosen to feature in a new artwork showcasing the country.

The town is just one of a handful of places in England chosen to star in a massive new tapestry being created by artists around the globe aiming to capture Scottish history and culture in a series of embroidered panels.

And Doncaster was picked out after it was revealed a few years ago that our town could still be part of Scotland after an administrative mix-up dating back more than 900 years.

Now talented townsfolk have captured Doncaster’s north of the border roots by helping to create four embroidered panels which will form part of an artwork called The Scottish Diaspora Tapestry which will feature more than 150 panels of Scottish history when it is completed.
