A fancy dress fundraiser is planned this month to support the upcoming Belton Barrow Race.

Epworth pub the Mowbray Arms will hold its Seventies’ Night on April 26, with entry at just £1 and prizes to be won for the best costume.

New landlord Shaun Scalley, 30, is now ensconced in the Mowbray with his dad John, and is delighted with his “very warm welcome” from local people.

He has introduced a three-choice carvery on Sundays, along with Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. His other speciality, he said, is grilled steaks, and he hopes these will prove popular in the Isle.

Special nights such as curry nights and quiz nights feature, with live music once a month. The Torn will appear next on May 17.
