The annual feast of mud, sweat and beers of the Haxey Hood has brought the Isle of Axholme to a standstill today.

Hundreds of people turned out to watch and take part in the tradtional game which dates from the 14th century and sees drinkers from four pubs in Haxey and Westwoodside go head to head in a bid to claim the prestigious Hood for their watering hole.

And this year’s victors were the King’s Arms who scooped the prize for the second year in a row.
