South Yorkshire Times readers can enjoy a mug of tea, coffee or a toasted tea cake - all absolutely free.

We have teamed up with Josh’s Diner in Mexborough indoor market to give our loyal readers a fantastic treat for free as part of our latest Owt Fer Nowt offer.

All you have to do is cut out the voucher on the page in the May 8 ediiton of the South Yorkshire Times and present it at Josh’s Diner from Thursday, May 8, to Wednesday, May 14, to claim your freebie.

Market traders, husband and wife Ernest and Lorraine Strawbridge opened Josh’s Diner four years ago.

Mr Strawbridge, of Barnsley, said: “We offer traditional home comfort food which is top quality and very good value indeed. Everything is cooked fresh and made here. Our oven is always on for the baking.

“We do everything from boiled eggs, all day breakfasts, home made pies and scones to Christmas dinners.

“And if it isn’t on the list we’ll try and cook it for you.”

The couple know a thing or two about fresh food as they also run their fruit and veg stall in the market.

Mr Strawbridge added: “We offer a takeaway service for people who want to warm their meal up later at home.”

Meanwhile, other business owners who have teamed up with us for the Owt Fer Nowt offer have told how the scheme has been a success.

Phil Toone, who gave away dog chews from his Mexborough market stall, said: “I had about 30 people take up the offer. It is a good campaign, it gets new customers into the business along with existing ones aswell.”

Flower stall owner Bev Taylor added: “Any sort of free promotion is worth doing, especially when businesses and markets are trying to get more trade in at times like this.”

Kyle Rberts, 27, of the Coffee Pot Cafe in Mexborough, said: “This is a great freebie offer for your readers.”
