Pupils and staff at Conisbrough’s Pennine View School put their backs into it when they took part in a rowathon for Sport Relief.

They split into four teams and took it in turns to pull as far as they could on rowing machines.

More than 100 primary age students and teachers managed to row more than 50, 000 metres, or 32.8 miles.

PE teacher James Burns, 26, said: “We had great fun, everyone was jumping on and having a go.

“It was nice to see pupils doing something active for a great charity cause.”
