Residents from the Keadby area voiced their fears for the future at a flood information event.

Representatives from the Environment Agency, North Lincolnshire Council, the Flood Forum charity and the Drainage Board fielded questions from the public as they manned stands at a Keadby venue.

Residents wanted up-to-date information about what is being done to protect them, and about how to get adequate insurance.

EA flood resilience officer Richard Lee said: “People are understandably anxious. A report listing recommendations to improve defence in the area will be completed later in the year.

“Understandably we took a lot of questions about defences and also about people’s problems with insurance.

“People’s safety is always the first priority and while different measures are considered people can take precautions themselves bu tkaing up our free warning service, byusing affordable barriers, and by simple steps such as always keeping valuables at as high a point as possible.”

Coun Trevor Barker said: “I feel the right steps forward are now being taken to address the issues with flooding.”
