A woman threatening to jump from a Doncaster motorway bridge was talked down by police after a three-hour stand-off.
Both carriageways of the A1(M) were closed last night after a woman was spotted on a bridge near Markham Grange nursery between junctions 37 and 38 between Red House and the Marr turn off at the A635 Barnsley Road.
Several motorists took to Facebook and Twitter to say that a person had been spotted on the bridge shortly before the road was closed off at around 6pm.
There were unconfirmed reports suggest the woman, from Barnsley, had jumped onto the carriageway.
But a South Yorkshire Police spokesman said the woman had been talked down and was now in psychiatric care.
