Two Dearne pubs were caught selling alcohol to underage drinkers during a police sting operation.

Police Community Support Officer Tom Harrop from Edlington Safer Neighbourhood Team and the Wath Safer Neighbourhood Team ran a test purchase operation on Friday December 28.

Young volunteers attended off-licence premises and public houses throughout Wath, Swinton, Kilnhurst, Mexborough, Conisborough and Denaby.

When they attempted to purchase alcohol All of the off-licences passed, but two public houses in Kilnhurst and Swinton failed by serving alcohol to the under 18s.

Both public houses received an £80 fixed penalty notice. The police have not identified the two premises.
