A FORMER tradesman has downed tools for a new career and is making a success of it under the guidance of an award-winning entrepeneur.

Jonathan Hardwick was self-employed for four years but fancied a change and applied to work at Manvers-based Gala Tent, which supply gazebo, marquees, and party tents.

The Mexborough man was offered a job as concessions manager by the company managing director Jason Mace, winner of the 2011 Barnsley and Rotherham Entrepreneur of the Year and Business Growth Award.

Jonathan’s new role involves him forming new business partnerships for Gala Tent, and the scheme has already proved to be a success.

The concessions division he leads was only launched a few weeks ago but there has already been over 40 contracts secured for stores in the North East.

Jason said: “The idea itself is very simple, each business that signs up for a Gala Tent concession stand to be put in their outlets receive a percentage of the sales generated from their own unique voucher code supplied by us.

“This is at no cost to the retailer and minimal costs to us meaning we can employ more staff reducing unemployment, everybody wins.”

It is hoped the concept will create 200 new jobs as the new department expands.

Any company which would like to sign up to the scheme can contact Jonathan at jhardwick@galatent.co.uk
