Town school figures low

MORE than 300 parents in Doncaster lodged appeals after their children were refused admission to their chosen school.

There were 124 appeals against primary school admissions, 100 against infant school rejections, and 108 against secondary school admissions in 2010/11, new Department for Education statistics show.

The figures were among the lowest in South Yorkshire and Coun Eric Tatton-Kelly, Doncaster Council spokesman for children and young people said: “They are very good but we still have to remember the disappointed parents out there.”
