Teenager badly injured in road collision

A TEENAGE motorcyclist suffered severe injuries in a road collision at Rawmarsh.

Witnesses are sought to the incident that took place last Friday at the junction of Rockingham Road with Heaton’s Bank at 8.45pm.

A silver Audi A3 TDI, driven by a 24-year old Rawmarsh man, was reported as travelling along Heaton’s Bank towards Rawmarsh, as a black off-road motorcycle ridden by an 18-year old from Rawmarsh was travelling along Rockingham Road towards Parkgate.

It is believed that as the Audi approached the junction with Rockingham Road to its offside, the motorcycle emerged from the junction and failed to give way. It is understood that the front of the motorcycle then struck the front of the Audi.

The motorcyclist was taken to Rotherham District General Hospital with multiple fractures to his head, left leg and arm. The driver of the Audi was uninjured.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone with information that could help officers, to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 1198 of March 9 2012.
