Talks to get tour in town
MP Ed Miliband
LABOUR leader and Doncaster North MP Ed Miliband wants to bring the Tour de France to the town if a campaign for it to come through Yorkshire is successful.
Mr Miliband used a meeting with the French President Francois Hollande in Paris to lobby for the cycle race to come to Yorkshire and said the president seemed ‘supportive’ but it was not his decision.
Yorkshire is bidding against Barcelona, Venice, Berlin and Scotland to host the first two stages of the 2016 race.
Mr Miliband said: “It would be a great thing for it to come to Yorkshire.”
