NOMINATIONS are officially open for this year’s Doncaster Sports Awards.

Last year it was golden girl Sarah Stevenson MBE who stole the show, claiming the coveted Sports Personality of the Year crown.

Now the search is on for the sporting stars of the last 12 months.

This year’s Sports Awards have been launched as part of the Free Press’s Year of Heroes competition - and we want to hear from you.

We’re looking for people who are top of the league when it comes to sporting endeavour - that could be anything from outstanding performances on the field, clubs going from strength to strength or an unsung hero who works tirelessly to make their team the best in the borough.

Nominate by emailing readerpromotions@jpress.co.uk and in no more than 100 words say why they deserve recognition.

The deadline is March 25.
