There was no Christmas cheer for four Doncaster households struck by sneak-in thieves after doors were left insecure.

A culprit took £2,500 worth of electrical items and vehicle keys after walking through the front door of a house at Scarll Road, Hexthorpe, between 2am and 7am on Wednesday.

Vehicle keys were also taken from a property at Salisbury Avenue, Hexthorpe, between 7am and 7.30am the same morning after a criminal entered through the front door. Vehicles were not stolen in either instance, but locks have to be changed.

Meanwhile at Wordsworth Avenue, Balby, £1,600 worth of electrical items were taken between 1am and 5am on Wednesday after a thief entered via an insecure conservatory door.

All electrical items stolen included computer equipment, games consoles and iPads.

And a criminal got into a house at Evelyn Avenue, Intake, between 9pm on Tuesday and 4am on Wednesday through an insecure front door and took a hand bag containing car keys. This time a VW Golf, worth £1,000, was taken.
