As well as late night shopping, there was all manner of Christmas activity taking place throughout the town centre.

Carol singers also entertained the crowds and there was also a display of fireworks.

Among those who joined Father Christmas in his sleigh - brought to town by the Tickhill and District Lions - were Izabella Buxton, three, of Armthorpe, and Freya Keenlyside, five, of Bawtry.

Special guest champion boxer Jamie McDonnell officially switched the lights on.
