A SECOND fatal crash has happened on a village road just days after a motorcyclist was killed there.

A man had to be airlifted from the Serlby crossroads, between Bawtry and Blyth, to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield, where he later died from his injuries.

The crash involved two cars and a van at the crossroads on the A614, at around 8.40am on Sunday, with fire crews from Harworth and Worksop working to release one the driver who was trapped behind the wheel. The other drivers were shaken but uninjured.

He was released by 9.12am and given first aid before being flown to hospital.

The road was closed for most of the day as police worked to find out what happened in the run up to the smash.

The crash scene, on the stretch of road linking Bawtry to the A1(M), is less than a mile from where Cantley motorcyclist Karl Micklethwaite, aged 26, was killed in a collision with a car last Monday.
