A DONCASTER schoolboy suffered leg injuries after he had to be cut from a bike by firefighters.

Part of a bike brake cut into a pupil’s thigh in the accident at Balby Carr Community Sports and Science College.

Headteacher Martin Craig said: “Whilst participating in a cycling activity during our personal challenge week a student was injured in an accident.

“We have been in contact with the parents and they have informed the school that the young man was back at home last evening and we were pleased to hear that he is recuperating well.

“I would like to take this opportunity to praise the emergency services who were superb at the scene and the colleagues who supported the young man whilst awaiting the speedy arrival of the emergency services.”

Crews were called out to the Weston Road school at about 11.45am yesterday to help cut the boy from the bike.

He was taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be serious.
