A GROUP of tutors from Dearne Valley College have completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise £400 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

The Sport and Physical Recreation teachers, Jonathan Lowes, Mick Blythe, Adam Nixon and David Merris, completed the 40km distance over the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, in under the alloted 12 hours.

They chose to support Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research after one of the group’s close friend’s four-year-old daughter, Holly, was recently diagnosed with the disease.

All the team made it over the three peaks and back to start point in Horton in Ribblesdale.

Jonathan said: “There were a large amount of people who had turned back less than a mile in who had attempted the first summit and turned back due to the weather conditions.

“We made the decision that we would attempt it, which were glad we did for Holly.”
