This is the wreckage of a sports car following a horror road crash in which two Doncaster men were killed.
A 48-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, who have not yet been named, died as a result of the accident on a country lane at 1.20am on Friday morning.
A third man was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary with minor injuries.
The crash happened not far from the entrance to Cusworth Hall and the road was closed for several hours following the incident.
Police are investigating the crash on Back Lane, Cusworth, which involved a silver Subaru Impreza hitting a wall and road sign.
Police do not believe any other vehicles were involved.
Residents have called for road safety measures to be introduced following the incident on the sharp bend.
Doreen Tinker, who has lived on Cusworth Lane for 30 years, heard the crash. She said: “It’s such a bad junction. It’s a blind corner and even though I live so close to it I always drive the long way round to get home just to avoid it. It’s a terrible junction and I know there have been incidents there in the past.
“We often hear cars speeding around Cusworth.
“Something should be done to improve road safety, particularly on that corner, and perhaps introducing speed bumps would also help.”
Another resident who did not want to be named said: “The crash was so loud that it woke my wife up. It’s terrible.”
Readers took to social media to express their condolences. Lorraine Tolley posted on Facebook “That’s a tricky corner. So sad. Thoughts are with their loved ones .” Tracey Willet posted: “RIP to the two men who lost their life and thoughts are with their family and friends. So sad x”
Paramedics and crews from Adwick and Doncaster fire stations attended the scene but there was little they could do for the two fatal casualties.
The road between Kempton Park Road and Cusworth Lane was closed for several hours while investigations took take place.
