E-fit of a man police are tracing in connection with a robbery in Rawmarsh

POLICE are hunting a phone thief who terrorised his teen victim outside a pub in in Rawmarsh.

The 19-year-old victim, from Kilnhurst, was celebrating on New Year’s Eve at the Star Inn when she stepped outside at about 1am to make a phone call.

As she finished the call, a man approached her and demanded she hand her mobile to him.

A police spokeswoman said: “The offender did not physically harm her, but was described as intimidating and aggressive, using threatening language.

“Fearing the man may assault her, the woman handed the phone over, at which point the offender ran away.

“The stolen phone is a black iPhone 4 with a purple case.”

The offender is described as white, in his early to mid-20s, with brown hair, shaved at the sides and spiky on top.

He has a medium build and was wearing a blue and white checked shirt.

Officers have released an e-fit of the man and would like to speak to anyone who may know who he is, saw what happened that night, or has any information about the incident.

People with information should call police on 101 and speak to DC Rachel Morton, quoting reference C/122/2012.
