The chance to take up a challenging and important job is on the cards over the next few weeks.
Misterton Fire Station currently has vacancies for up to six new recruits and this coincides with Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service launching its 2014 recruitment drive for retained firefighters.
It is feared if new blood is not found then the service could struggle to continue.
A spokesman said: “Retained firefighters are on-call and respond to the station in the event of an emergency. They are trained in firefighting, water rescue, first aid, and a range of other skills that ensures they can respond to emergency situations.
“Being a member of the fire service can be challenging, exciting, and an excellent way of serving your local community.”
Retained firefighters have to be over 18 years of age and be able to respond to Misterton Fire Station within five minutes of being paged.
