CREATIVE students designed model villages as part of a school project - and then had to stop their teacher from wrecking them!

Pupils at Saint Pius X Catholic High School in Wath were tasked with creating the mini towns, complete with houses, roads and public buildings.

But there was trouble on the horizon as their teachers played the role of a developer who wanted to build a motorway through the villages.

The youngsters then had to protect their newly formed settlements from development in a series of mock council meetings and court hearings.

Linda Marsden, Head of English, said: “It was a great way for the students to get a taste of the issues facing communities.

“It is something they may face for real when they start work.”
