A drink-driving female motorist who drove her car into another woman before fleeing the scene of the collision has been jailed for more than two years.

Anita Duggan, aged 30, of Basil Avenue, Armthorpe, drove her Vauxhall Vectra into a 32-year-old woman following an argument on August 25 last year.

After manoeuvring her car several times Duggan drove into the woman, trapping her against the vehicle next to her.

She then drove off from the scene, leaving the victim with serious injuries that led to her remaining in hospital for two weeks following the incident.

Duggan had been drinking prior to the crash, which occurred in a car park next door to a pub on Balby Road.

Duggan pleaded guilty at Sheffield Crown Court to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while over the prescribed limit.

She was sentenced to a total of 32 months and banned from driving for two years.

Detective Constable Andy Gray, from Doncaster CID, said afterwards: “This case highlights the dramatic consequences that driving while over the limit can have.

“Duggan was more than twice the drink-drive limit.

“The message is clear – the only safe amount of alcohol to drink when driving is zero.”
