PR firm helps to give kids a trip of a lifetime

A LEADING PR agency from South Yorkshire is helping seriously ill and disabled children enjoy a holiday of a lifetime.

Staff at HR Media have donated £77 Christmas card money to Dreamflight, a registered UK charity that changes the lives of the youngsters by taking them to Orlando, Florida.

Each year almost 200 deserving children from all over the UK, including South Yorkshire, travel without their parents to spend ten magical days in the sunshine state.

Many children could not undertake such a journey without the support of the army of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and non-medical volunteers who care for the youngsters during the trip.

Martin Ross, managing director of HR Media, said: “Each year we donate our Christmas card money to charity, so we are pleased this year to be able to contribute to the fantastic work of Dreamflight.

“While it is a national charity a lot of children from South Yorkshire have benefited from the opportunity to go to America and a number of the medical staff on the trip are based at the Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

“The visit to Florida not only boosts the self-esteem of the young people, but also provides a deserved break for parents and carers.”

Dreamflight children have gone on to amazing achievements.

In 2008, eight of the returning Paralympians from Beijing, many of them medal-winning, had been Dreamflight children citing the trip as a turning point for them.
