Plaque to be unveiled at care home
A PLAQUE will be unveiled at a Dearne care home to recognise the building’s long history as a community base for health care.
Swinton Grange on Station Street is currently used as an old folks home but dates back to 1865 as a doctors’ practice.
Former residents include a Dr Campbell, a popular GP who was rewarded for his heroism helping people involved in local mining and railway accidents.
Local historians, councillor Ken Wyatt, Ron James and Giles Brearley, have now arranged for a plaque and display to be put inside the building to give details of its background.
The unveiling will take place on Wednesday, July 18, at 2pm when Rotherham Civic Mayor Dave Pickering and MP John Healey are both expected to attend.
