Plan for 233 homes resubmitted

A PLANNING application for a 233 home housing development at Brampton which outraged hundreds of residents earlier this year has been resubmitted.

More than 300 Brampton residents signed a petition opposing plans by Cortonwood Ltd for 233 new homes on a formerly contaminated pit site between the Cortonwood Retail Park and Brampton Village.

The new application to build 153 houses and 80 apartments, was revealed in a letter to residents at the end of August.

The company had reviously with drawn a similar application in July.

Residents had raised fears about flooding, disruption to wildlife, an increase in traffic on surrounding roads and a drain on resources such as schools and doctors if the building went ahead.

Campaigner Hayley Heptinstall said the action group which opposed the original application were considering their options in the light of the latest revelations.
