Over 200 haven’t seen a doctor in five years

One of the borough’s doctors surgeries is contacting patients who are aged over 45 and haven’t seen a doctor for five years or more to ask them to attend a routine health check.

Patient representatives at The Kingthorne Practice thought of the idea at their monthly meeting after they realised that over 200 patients haven’t been through their doors since 2009.

The patients, have been sent a letter inviting them to visit the Thorne Road surgery for an appointment with a health care assistant.

They will carry out some basic cholesterol, height, weight and blood pressure checks. If the patient needs any further advice they will be referred to one of the GPs.
