More than 40 jobs have been created by Go Outdoors at a new £1.5 million store in Doncaster.

The outdoors shop received a staggering 500 applications for just 43 positions at the store, which is located at the former Don Valley Outdoor Centre on Littleworth Lane, Old Rossington.

It opens on December 7.

Store manager, Rebecca Davey, aged 35, has been with Go Outdoors for four years and worked previously at the Scunthorpe branch.

She is an active outdoor enthusiast and keen road cyclist, enjoying cycling around Yorkshire in her spare time.

She said: “It’s been a busy few months and now my team and I can’t wait to open the doors and welcome our new customers to the store.

“Whether you’re a seasoned outdoor enthusiast or just wanting to try something for the first time, our friendly, knowledgeable staff will be on hand to help.”

The 26,300 sq ft branch will be Go Outdoors’ 45th store. Bosses say it will stock a ‘massive range’ of camping equipment, tents, clothing and footwear, as well as fishing, cycling and horse riding accessories.

Customers can call the Doncaster store on 0844 387 6846.

It will be open from 9am to 8pm on Mondays to Fridays, 9am to 6pm on Saturdays and 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sundays.
