The new managing director of a rail company which transports 100,000 people a year to and from Doncaster has pledged to do what he can to make journeys even more convenient and enjoyable.
Will Dunnett has been appointed the new MD at First Hull Trains after spending almost two years as the company’s commercial director.
He said: “We will be talking to the people of Doncaster and finding out what it is that they want. We will be spending a lot more time in Doncaster seeing what we can do to help.
“I think it’s Doncaster’s best kept secret that there’s competition on the East Coast line and that competition is First Hull Trains.”
Will said the company has already listened to customers by offering special offers on tickets, free on-board WiFi, and a facility which allows people to download tickets onto their smartphones.
He said the next plan is to reduce journey times from Doncaster to Hull through electrification.
“The route is electrified all the way from London to Doncaster but as we turn off to Howden it isn’t,” he explained.
“We’re looking at a project and that’s certainly beginning to gather steam.”
