Gates have been stalled in an alleyway in a bid to reduce persistent anti-social behaviour problems.
They were installed in the vicinity of Balmoral Road, Zetland Road and Osborne Road in Town Moor following complaints about littering and nuisance behaviour.
South Yorkshire’s police and crime commissioner Shaun Wright part funded the gates and marked the completion of the scheme by visiting the site on Tuesday.
He said: “These gates will help greatly reduce the fear of crime and antisocial behaviour for local residents and send out a clear message to others that we will not tolerate criminal activity in our local communities.”
Mr Wright provided £10, 000 through his Spring Grant Scheme and Doncaster Council gave £2000 following applications from the Balmoral Road Neighbourhood Watch Scheme. They will benefit 132 properties.
Councillor Joe Blackham, cabinet member for community safety, said: “Gates can be an effective way of tackling low-level crime.”
