Families have begun moving into their homes at a prestigious new Doncaster housing estate.
Kerry Rankin and her family were among the first to move into the new homes on Dorado Drive where housing provider Guinness Northern Counties met with Doncaster Council and Keepmoat representatives last week to take ownership of five new homes at the Doncaster Dominion housing development.
The homes are the first phase of a total of 88 new properties to be acquired by GNC at Dominion over the next three years.
The new homes will be a mix of two, three and four bedroom properties, of which 65 will be for affordable rent and 23 for shared ownership.
Each of the properties has been designed to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 and meet Secure by Design and Lifetime Home standards.
The site was previously owned by the Homes and Communities Agency with the land being released under the public land initiative. Local developers Keepmoat and Strata Homes have partnered with Guinness Northern Counties in order to provide these affordable family homes, which is part of the overall £22.6m housing development.
Nigel Graham, head of business development at Guinness Northern Counties, said: “We are delighted to have been selected as the partners to Keepmoat and Strata Homes at Dominion.
“The design and housing standards are outstanding and together with the wider regeneration proposals will create a vibrant new community for Doncaster and its residents, while supporting employment opportunities for local people.”
The Dominion site is connected by a new carriageway which links the roundabouts serving Woodfield Plantation Tesco and Morrisons White Rose Park and Ride, at the opposite end. The wider Dominion development will feature an array of community facilities, including a primary school, play areas, shops and village square.
Coun Christine Mills, cabinet member for housing, said: “Creating more high quality housing for families in Doncaster is a top priority.”
