Barnsley Central Library being demolished. 2/8/14

Demolition of Barnsley Central Library is nearing completion.

The demolition work is set to finish at the end of this month.

The library is being knocked down to make way for Barnsley College’s £17 million sixth form, which is set to be completed by the end of 2015.

The scheme is funded by the college but forms part of Barnsley Council’s £41 m redevelopment plans, which include a new shopping boulevard and town square.
