A MURDER investigation has been launched after an incident at a South Yorkshire pub.

Detectives are appealing for information after a 45-year-old man died following a fight in the Don Jon Hotel in Maltby at 10pm yesterday.

It is believed that a number of people were involved in a fight at the High Street pub and the victim, from Dinnington, sustained a serious head injury.

He was taken to Rotherham District General Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

A 35-year-old Maltby man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Officers investigating the incident are appealing for anyone who was in the Don Jon pub or nearby pubs on Sunday evening, or anyone with information that may assist to call South Yorkshire Police immediately on 101.
