HAXEY Parish Council is pressing for action at two notorious traffic blackspots in the Isle.

Along with their urgent request to North Lincolnshire Council for improvements to the Doncaster Road junction at Idle Bank, near Westwoodside, parish councillors have added a further site of concern.

Chairman David Knowles said: “We have submitted our list of proposals for the B1396 crossroads, but we also asked for something to be done at the Owston Ferry A161 junction. Another car was written off there recently, and we have invited the council to take another look there too.

“Both areas need attention. It’s an absolutely crazy situation.”

Following a story in the Bells last week, about residents’ fears for their safety on the B1396, Jeanette Moorhouse got in touch to add her weight to the appeal for action.

Jeanette, 44, of High Street, Haxey, had to be rescued by fire crews after her car overturned in to the ditch by the B1396 earlier this month, following a collision.

She said: “I’m still recovering from a back injury but was lucky not to be killed.

“I’d like to thank the people who stopped and helped me. One man climbed through the boot of my car to stay with me. People have complained for years about Idle Bank junction. It’s time something was done about it.”
