The Victoria Cross Trust has benefited to the tune of £1,000 - thanks to local MEP Godfrey Bloom’s appearance on a TV panel game.

He recently took part in BBC’s ‘Have I Got News For You’ programme and decided to donate his fee to the Doncaster-based charity.

“While in public life I always give fees from such appearances to military charities,” explained Mr Bloom, who is a graduate of the Royal College of Defence Studies.

“The Victoria Cross Trust is a wonderful worthwhile charity and I know that they will be able to put the money to good use,” he added.

He handed over the cheque to veteran volunteer Shaun Clark at the Trust’s headquarters.
