A HEALTH centre had some unlikely visitors when the New Zealand Maori All Blacks descended on to its doorstep.
For the rugby aces visited Doncaster as part of their European tour and trained at Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellbeing Centre.
The centre’s staff organised three separate training sessions over five days for the Maori All Blacks which included high intensity workouts and pool recovery work.
Ian Parkin, general manager at Nuffield Health in Sidings Court, Lakeside, said: “When we were informed of the news we were delighted. We already have a strong partnership with Doncaster Rovers, Doncaster Knights and the Doncaster Belles whom all of which use our facilities on a regular basis but to welcome a world class team such as the Maori All Blacks is a truly once in a life time opportunity.
“It was an amazing experience for our team and members to work out and relax alongside players of that calibre.
“All of the players without exception were approachable and took the time to talk and even have photographs taken with our members, they were absolute gentleman.
“We also would like to thank the Earl of Doncaster which was the chosen venue for their stay whilst in Doncaster and whom recommended our facilities to the Maori All Blacks.”
And it was far from a wasted trip to the borough for the All Blacks who ran out comfortable winners with a 52-21 triumph over a Rugby Championship select XV.
