Man due in court over Doncaster shop robberies

A man has been charged in connection with two armed robberies in Doncaster.

Warren Smith, 39, has been charged with two robberies that took place at shops in the town on Wednesday.

Police were called to Lifestyle Express, Rockingham Road, at 3pm following reports of a robbery in which cash was stolen.

At 7.25pm on the same day officers were called to a newsagents in Beckett Road following another report of an armed robbery. Cash was again stolen.

Smith has been charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear, and a further charge of theft.

Smith, of no fixed abode, will appear at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court today (Saturday).
