Keeping warm packs available
FREE ‘keeping warm’ packs are on offer to elderly people in Rotherham and Barnsley - and could make all the difference in this wintry weather.
Older people can struggle to keep warm when the temperature drops, but Age UK Rotherham is ready to help both home owners and those in rented housing.
Winter survival kits include essentials such as blankets, socks, mugs, hot water bottles and thermometers, and in Barnsley these are available to vulnerable families too.
Age Uk Rotherham offers practical handyman help with heating systems and money management, and will point the way to saver schemes and grants to cut down bills.
Contact Lesley Dabell on 01709 829621 or at Lesley.dabell@ageukrotherham.org for more information.
At Barnsley, over 2000 packs are being distributed, after the Council received £150,000 of funding from the Department of Health.
The most vulnerable people will receive kits, that include shoe grippers, and thermal hats, gloves and socks.
