It’s community Christmas fun at South Axholme

Seasonal festivities at Epworth’s South Axholme Academy were extended to the wider community - with a special party for Isle residents.

Around 80 senior citizens from across the local area were invited in to enjoy musical entertainment from the school band, chats with members of the school council and a big Christmas buffet.

Then the party-goers were able to join in with some lively carol singing, bingo games and a raffle, that all added to the merriment.

An Academy spokesperson said the popular annual event had again been a success that was enjoyed by everyone involved with it this year.

The academy maintains strong links with the community and is often involved with external efforts to help those who live in the surrounding area.

This has included an ongoing appeal to help build up resources for the Scunthorpe food bank.

South Axholme Academy is a collecting point for the food bank, accepting dried and tinned food, Christmas cakes, biscuits and tea and coffee.

The academy spokesperson added: “Staff and students of South Axholme Academy would like to wish all the residents of the Isle of Axholme a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
