Inquest opens into woman hit by train
AN INQUEST has been opened and adjourned into the death of a woman who was hit by a train at Mexborough.
Billie Jane Coulton, 28, of Loxley Court, Parson Cross, Sheffield, was struck by an empty passenger train at the town railway station.
Paramedics attended at 12.08am on Thursday, January 26, but she was declared dead at the scene.
Police arrested two men but they were released without charge and officers do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances.
Assistant deputy coroner Dr Teresa Searle opened an inquest in Doncaster last Friday.
The coroner released Ms Coulton’s body to the family for funeral arrangements to be made.
A post mortem examination has taken place and toxicology tests are to be completed.
The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
