Inquest opened into Rawmarsh man’s death

AN inquest has been opened into the death of a Rawmarsh man who was killed in an industrial incident at a factory.

A spokesman for the Rotherham Coroner’s office named the victim as Alan Gerrard, 47, and said an inquest had been opened and adjourned in Doncaster last Thursday.

The tragedy happened at the Macalloy plant on Caxton Way, Dinnington, on Friday, January 25, just after 3pm.

Police said it was reported that a worker had become stuck in a machine.

The Health and Safety Executive is investigating.
