A CHILD was airlifted to hospital after the bouncy castle they were playing on blew into the middle of a busy main road near Doncaster.
The Free Press understands that the child was in a serious but stable condition after being treated at the scene and airlifted to Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
The incident happened at Corner Farm in Main Street, Harworth, at around 6pm on Sunday when the inflatable was caught by a gust of wind and blown into Tickhill Road.
A spokesman for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said a rapid response vehicle, ambulance and air ambulance attended the incident.
The spokesman could not confirm the exact age or the gender of the child but said they were under the age of ten.
The details of the injuries have not been confirmed.
The family at Corner Farm declined to comment on the incident.
A neighbour who did not want to be named, said: “The bouncy castle was there for a christening party they were having at the farm.
“It was one of those big ones with an inflatable slide on.
“We didn’t know anything had happened until we heard the helicopter. I went over to see what had happened and was told there had been an accident with the bouncy castle, they didn’t say how bad it was.”
Another neighbour who did not want to be named added: “I saw the bouncy castle earlier in the day the children seemed to be having a good time, I wasn’t aware there had been an accident you don’t expect something like this to happen.”
