Have a heart and support charity appeal

Entrants of the Brooks Run Doncaster 10k are being asked to raise sponsorship for the British Heart Foundation’s Mending Broken Hearts Appeal.

Event organisers Metres to Miles have teamed up with the British Heart Foundation to raise funds for groundbreaking research that could help victims of heart attacks.

Once your heart muscle is damaged by a cardiac arrest, it can never fully recover. But research is being conducted on the hearts of a Zebrafish, which can repair itself, and is providing clues about how the human heart could be repaired.

Julian Moorhouse, founder of Metres to Miles, said: “We are delighted to be supporting this research and will be making information about the appeal available to runners as they register with us.”

The road race will take place on May 13. For more information about the appeal visit www.bhf.org.uk/mbh
