A nurse who looks after older people with mental health difficulties in Doncaster has received a prestigious honour.
Nigel Head, is a nurse working in Memory Services at Forest Gate Day Hospital at Balby in Doncaster, which is run by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH), has been awarded the title of Queen’s Nurse (QN) by the Queen’s Nursing Institute, due to his high standards of care.
The title of Queen’s Nurse is awarded to nurses who demonstrate their commitment to patient-centred values and continually improving practice.
He received his badge and certificate from Viv Bennett, Director of Nursing at the Department of Health and Public Health England at a ceremony in London.
Nigel, from Hatfield, (pictured) said: “It is a great honour to be given this title. It is also a privilege to help the patients and carers at Memory Service to lead a more fulfilling life.”
Nigel has been a mental health nurse since 2009, and his wife Zara, also a Queen’s Nurse, is a Practice Nurse working in Primary Care.
