GARDEN TRAIL RAISES POTS
by Chris Brammer chris.brammer@dearnetoday.co.uk THE SWINTON Garden Trail is growing every year, and in the process, raising vital funds for charity.
The second annual event, which allowed visitors to tour 17 gardens in the area, took place on Saturday and Sunday with in excess of 1600 being raised.
"We had two absolutely fantastic days, met some lovely people and they got to go around some beautiful gardens in the area, said organiser Marilyn Tinsley of Brookfield Crescent. She added: "The attendance at the weekend, has also resulted in more people who would be interested in opening their garden up next year.
The garden trail allowed visitors to take a tour of some of Swinton's finest gardens belonging to private residents and at each one was a variety of stalls and refreshments.
The trail attracted a number of high-profile visitors including the Mayor and Mayoress of Rotherham and Stella Hague, the mother of former leader of the opposition, William Hague MP.
A total amount raised from the day has yet to be finalised and raffle prizes from the event are still to be drawn.
