The funeral will take place later this week of a two-time former mayor of Doncaster.

John Quinn who died last month, aged 80, will be laid to rest following a service at Christ The King Church in his home village of Rossington from 1.30pm on Thursday.

Proud Scotsman Mr Quinn was civic mayor of Doncaster in 1993 and then again in 2002 alongside elected mayor Martin Winter and was also a long-serving Doncaster councillor and also a stalwart on Rossington Parish Council and was heavily inolved in plans to improve the village down the years.

Mr Quinn, a miner, leaves a wife Ella, who served as civic mayoress, as well as children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
