A Doncaster born footballer was back on home soil when he was guest of honour for a summer fair at his old school.

Former Doncaster Rovers ace James Baxendale, who now plays for League One side Walsall, joined in the fun and games at Holy Family Catholic Primary School in Stainforth as pupils and staff came together to host a fun-packed day of entertainment and attractions.

James, 21, who hails from Thorne, began his career at Leeds United and later joined his home town team, making two appearances for Rovers during the 2011-12 season and has since made a name for himself in the Midlands, scoring five goals in 34 appearances for Walsall, who narrowly missed out on the League One play-offs this season.

There were fairground rides, football games, food and drink and lots of stalls and attractions as visitors made the most of the sunny weather to help bring in funds for the Kirton Lane school.
