ENVIRONMENT Agency officials are checking rivers levels in Doncaster this lunchtime following hours of heavy rainfall.

FEARS are growing that parts of the borough may be without power as flood water rises near Thorpe Marsh power station.

Fordstead Lane and Marsh Lane are now closed due to the filling of washland at Thorpe Marsh.

Greys Bridge at Denaby Main is also closed.

The Environment Agency also issued a flood warning for the River Don and its tributaries from Hexthorpe to Stainforth.

River levels are expected to remain high as water moves through the area.

Meanwhile reports are coming in that flood water is rising in Bentley - one of the areas worst affected by the 2007 floods.

High river levels were reported in Sprotbrough but no flood warning has been issued.
