XP, the new Free School in Doncaster, which is set to open in September 2014, today announces that Lakeside is the preferred location for the school.

Free schools are all-ability state-funded schools set up in response to what local people say they want and need in order to improve education for children in their community.

Gwyn ap Harri, Founder and Chair of Governors, XP school said: “Our school will be woven from the fabric of our community, so a location with existing community resources is crucial. We have worked very hard to establish great relationships with our community such as Doncaster Rovers, Doncaster Chamber, DMBC and local politicians. Everyone understands we are creating something Doncaster will be very proud of. Lakeside would be perfect for our school.”

Andy Sprakes, Principal Designate (pictured) added: “Lakeside’s central location with great access from all areas of Doncaster, along with many opportunities for learning experiences within walking distance make it the number one priority for our school. Hopefully, we will be able to acquire the land in a short space of time with no delay, so we can get on with our business of building a great school.”

He continued: “The number of applicants for our school has been fantastic. We promise to do everything we can to repay the trust our parents have shown in us, and that means getting the right site for our school.”

XP will host an update evening for applicants at the Doncaster Rovers Keepmoat Stadium, Belle View Suite, Lakeside, Doncaster at 6pm on Thursday December 19. Please see more details on the school website at www.xpschool.org
