Fire crews spent more than three hours tackling a blaze which ripped across a farmer’s field.
Crews from Harworth and Worksop fire stations were called out to the incident shortly before 6pm last night after flames were spotted on agricultural land near Bircotes.
A 300m x 300m field of cut straw was ablaze, with blustery winds casuing the flames to spread.
A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Fire Service said that no-one had been injured in the incident, the cause of which is thought to be deliberate.
Nearby roads were closed as a safety precaution during the incident.
